Art to help you slow down and stay curious.

What does it mean to be here? How can we connect more deeply with that which lies right before our feet? My practice is rooted in deep inspiration of the world of moss and stone, small wanderers in the cathedrals of forests. I invite my viewers to sink into these spaces and remind them they exist all around, just outside their doorstep.

My art is a mix of different mediums. I was trained in traditional Japanese painting techniques as a research student at Tokyo University of the Arts, and I taught myself classical painting and drawing over many years of self study. I mix east asian materials, such as washi paper, crushed stones, hide glue and metal leaf, with western staples like oil and acrylic paint. I often use collage techniques to harmonize these media. In my style is the meeting point of different cultures and ideas, the same place that has inspired me to live between cultures for much of my life.
